It would be great if in future releases there was a horizontal scroll bar on this window as often names in the hierarchy are longer than the maximum window width

Actually, there is already a horizontal scroll bar that gets visible when the tree is too wide, however, it will be displayed when the cell name is already shorten to zero characters. It should be displayed earlier. So we will check this more close and adjust it if possible.

A vertical scroll bar appears but not a horizontal scroll bar that I can see or use. Perhaps I need to update.(using 20241011 build). I have found that if anchor the hierarchy window it on the right or float it then can make it much wider than when anchored on left (with layer window) which is a work around.
I also find it frustrating that some operations automatically close the open hierarchy in the window (i.e it reverts to the top level only) rather than staying it open (e.g. if working 6 levels down then have to reopen 6 levels of hierarchy).
