I have cells that are grouped. I would like to edit the grouped cell after it has been placed. Is there a command to ungroup a cell so that editing can be performed

Yes, sure. There is:
First of all you have a Edit-In-Place feature. With it you can step into the referred cell while seeing the whole design and edit it.
Next to it there is a flat feature that will move anything from the referred cell into the next higher hierarchy level cell.
Both features can be access in multi ways. The most simple one is via the mainmenu/cell-menu.
