Hi,
After generating an OASIS file using layout editor, a colleague attempting to use the file received the following error:
“Padding-string of END-rec. is not NULL”
The OASIS file was exported from a previous gds file.
Can you advise me how to resolve this?
Thank you,
Ciaran

Hi, the error message you mentioned is not a message created by the LayoutEditor. What software have you used to read the OASIS file? The end record is the last record to mark the end of the OASIS file. So the contents of the file should be read in this point. I have reviewed the OASIS spec once more. As I understand it, it is not required that the padding string in the end record must be NULL. If you have different information, please let me know. The LayoutEditor use a space to fill the padding string. As mentioned before the padding string is a pure fill element to simplify the end of file detection and does not contain any relevant information.

Hi Ciaran,
Mmmm, with this format description it is hard to tell if it must be forced to be NULL or if it is just a recommendation. Nevertheless I will adjust the OASIS writer in that way with the next update.

Hi Jurgen,
Can you let me know whether the OASIS format was updated in the latest layout editor release?
Thanks,
