Sunday 21st June 2020 GDS is the most common exchange format. If you foundry prefer a different format, Gerber, OASIS and many more are supported as well.

Monday 29th June 2020 GDS file are well structured and can be read by all tools supporting GDS. The handling of layer and cells may differ. Some tools only display layer previous be defined inside the tool. Some other tools can only display a single top cell. GDS supports more than one top cell.
