I have two instances of LayoutEditor open. In one, I have opened a layout and edited it. I need to use this layout as a cell, in another instance of LayoutEditor.
I see that there is a "Copy cell" command, but that doesn't seem to do what I need.
How do I achieve this "copy/paste" functionality?

The simplest way to do it is a copy&paste is using ctrl+C and ctrl+V or mainmenu/utilities/clipboard/copy&paste. You need to selected a reference to the required cell before call copy.
An alternative way would be using the mainmenu/file/attached feature to import one design to another.
