How big of a layout file (gds, oas) can your editor handle on a typical workstation? For example, can your editor handle several hundred gigabyte oasis file? If not, what's the max file size that your program can handle?

The LayoutEditor loads the complete design into your RAM memory. This is the limiting factor in the maximum possible file size. As soon as the virtual memory is used the LayoutEditor will lose most of its performance. As a rule of thumb, four times more RAM is required as your GDSII file. A conversion of this rule to OASIS is hard as OASIS compression can vary on the structure of the design and the used OASIS options, but to open a 100Gb design you will need in any case a system with at least 500Gb RAM (about 5Tb worst case). I am aware that some user of the LayoutEditor work with GDSII designs in the range of 20-50GB, but no user reports a 100Gb OASIS file yet.
